Length: 14-18 hours of student work (4 weeks)
In this module, students have the unique opportunity to participate in science through their own experiences with the COVID-19 pandemic. Their questions serve as the on-ramp into this science storyline about the how the SARS-CoV-2 virus spreads, who is impacted, what can be done to slow the spread, and what the future could look like (and if we can know for certain).
Students develop and use scientific modeling, critically evaluate media and public health information about the virus, and use social media to amplify credible and accurate information that could help save lives.
This COVID-19 module developed as part of the partnership between the Institute for School Partnership and the Hawthorn Leadership School for Girls in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

The mySci K-8 curriculum was created by the Institute for School Partnership at Washington University in St. Louis and local teacher leaders, with the support of the Monsanto Fund (now Bayer).
